Work is continuing on the £1.2 billion East Coast Main Line Upgrade.

The Gasworks Tunnel, a disused railway tunnel on the approach to Kings Cross, is being fitted out with new overhead electric line equipment.

Additional tracks are also bring laid so that more trains can enter and leave the terminus.

When completed the upgrade project will allow more long-distance trains to run each hour, providing up to 10,000 extra seats a day along the East Coast Main Line between London and Scotland and the North East. The project will also provide quicker journeys and improve reliability.
